Youth Cell Group

Hello!

We're happy to announce that we've just started our very own Youth Cell Groups!

They are divided into English and Chinese cell groups to cater to the different needs of our Youth.
Through this splitting up into different small groups, we aim to create a more comfortable atmosphere in which everyone will be able to freely share their thoughts and views, ask questions, and have a closer time of fellowship, all in the comfort of a home!

They will be held once every month on a Saturday at 3pm (taking over our normal Youth group time on that day) and will be hosted by different youths at their houses each time.

We praise God for a great time of cell group last Saturday and we'll be looking forward to our next cell group to be held on the 12th of June!

We welcome all of you for a time of fun, fellowship, and learning more about God's word all bundled into one! Hope to see you there!

Youth Chinese Evangelism

Hello!

On the 13th of March, the Youth participated in our first-ever Chinese evangelism event entitled "Where Is Your Next Stop?" with the Malaysian Youth For Christ (MYFC). It was an unforgettable experience for most of us who were tasked with leading a group of chinese-speaking non-Christians in a race.

This race was held in Hutan Bandar and Danga Bay, with teams having to work together to get past the many stations of games and challenges along the way. They also had to come up with a team cheer that was catchy and original as well.

At the end of the day, the teams were scored, with the highest scoring teams winning hampers.

After the games, the group leaders were given some time to evangelize to their group members in Chinese, sharing the Good News with them in practical, creative ways. This was a great learning experience for all involved as this was the first time sharing in Chinese to a large group of people. Although it was challenging and a bit scary at first, with God, we all managed to pull through and have an enjoyable time in the process.

Thank God for the good weather, the good friends, the good experiences, and the good time spent sharing the news about our risen Saviour. Hopefully there'll be more to come and we'll be able to apply whatever we've learnt in our everyday lives for His glory!

Youth CNY Visitations

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

The Youth Visitations for Chinese New Year kicked off with a bang on Friday, the 6th day of the New Year. Although not an official Youth Outing, 10 of our Youth went to pay Chun Kit - our new friend we made during our Youth BBQ through Jethro - a visit. It was an open house organized by him and his family and the Youth were treated to a sumptuous lunch, which consisted of Nasi Lemak, Fried Chicken, and homemade Lamb Curry!

During our time there, we also managed to make friends with Johor's Taekwondo Sea Games Champion - Yoga - whose mother made the awesomely delicious Lamb Curry mentioned earlier. We also got to catch up with Eugene, Chun Kit's cousin brother, whom we also met during the Youth BBQ. Overall, we all had a fantastic time of food, fun and fellowship, hopefully being a blessing to Chun Kit and his family along the way. We indeed were blessed! Thank God for the opportunity!

The next day, on the 7th day of the Lunar New Year, the Youth embarked on our round of annual Youth CNY Visitations. Our day started with a trip to Cheng De's apartment, where we had a great time of fellowship and singing with the 3 Cambodian Pastors who were with us. Little did we know that the most memorable part of our visit was to follow.

As we were in the lift to the ground floor of the apartment on our way to our next destination, we felt a sudden jerk, as the lift landed at the ground floor with a thud. The doors didn't open. We were trapped. After a few moments of panic, we all stayed calm and rang the alarm. Thankfully, the people walking by heard us and called the maintenance people. While waiting for them to arrive, Pastor Thomas requested Jethro to say a prayer, which ended with a loud "AMEN" from everyone present. At that point, we all were assured that God was indeed watching over us and we need not be afraid. After half an hour, the maintenance people freed us and we sucked in grateful breaths of fresh air, thanking God and looking eagerly forward to out next destination - Uncle Larry's place.

After spending close to 40 minutes in a stuffy, cramped up lift, we were all famished. As such, we were extremely grateful to Uncle Larry and Aunty Molly, who prepared Pizza and Sushi for all of us. After another fruitful time of fellowship and singing along to our up-and-coming guitarist Justina playing the song "Every Move I Make", we departed to Uncle Andrew's place, our second-last destination for the day.

There, Pastor Thomas and Victor both enjoyed a Cambodian massage by the Cambodian pastors, who were experts in the art of massage as well as the Gospel! The Youth had a good time playing basketball at the court opposite his place as well. At about 4pm, we then departed to our final destination of the day - Wei Kuan's house.

As we walked to the gate of Wei Kuan's house, we paused as the Youth spent around 5 whole minutes ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the majesty and grandeur of his mansion. This similar reaction was to continue for the next half an hour, as Wei Kuan brought the Youth on a tour of his Mansion. Following that, Pastor Thomas led us in a time of worship and in singing a Chinese New Year song for our host.

God works in wonderous ways. As we were in the process of fellowship, we discovered that 3 of Wei Kuan's maids were in fact Cambodian! By God's divine planning, we also happened to have 3 Cambodian Pastors with us that day. Thus, after Pastor Nuth Pich shared his testimony with the maids in Cambodian, he led them in a time of prayer. All glory be to God, all 3 maids were saved that day. Amen!

What a way to end our CNY Visitations. After a long day, we all reluctantly departed home, wishing the day's festivities would never end. We praise God for blessing us with journey mercy throughout the day's visitations and we thank everyone who so graciously opened their houses for us. To God be the Glory!

Youth BBQ and Sleepover!

On the 30th of January 2010, the Immanuel Youth set off to Rachel's apartment to have a barbeque and our very first Youth stayover.

After making sure we all bought whatever we were assigned to buy, and brought whatever we agreed to bring, we all made our way to Rachel's place at 4pm on a nice and cloudy Saturday. Our first event was a swim in the pool, something we were all really looking forward to. However, with the many dark clouds in the sky since around 3pm, we were praying fervently for God to hold back the rain; and He did. Not only that, He provided us with awesomely cool weather to go along with it. That made our swim all the more enjoyable (and without fear of a sunburn of course). Indeed, starting off the day with a clear sign of God's grace set the tone for the fantastic (and highly fruitful) time of fun and fellowship that was to follow.

So after a great swim, we all began our Barbeque. Thankfully we had an expert fire starter in Cheng De, who got the fire going in less than 5 minutes. Nice. It was also a great blessing to have many moms present that night. Not only did they help to ensure everyone was safe, they also cooked up a feast! Besides the usual Chicken Wings and Sausages, we had Sambal Sting Ray (Ikan Bakar), Sambal Squid, and Sambal Prawns. There was also the sumptuous Prawn Curry with Bee Hoon, topped off with juicy and sweet Watermelons for dessert. Yum.

After we all had our fill, we had a short time of Worship followed by a short sharing by Pastor Thomas on the power and importance of sharing one's Testimony. Victor and Bo Hao then shared short testimonies of their own, praising God for the power He has so wonderfully displayed in and through their lives. To God be all the Glory.

The Barbeque was adjourned after the sharing and the sleepover officially began. We started our movie marathon with White Chicks while indulging in Salsa and Nachos amidst the raucous laughter throughout the movie. We concluded with the movie Mean Girls, which provided the more humour to keep us all awake as we continued munching on the Nachos and enjoyed each others' fellowship. All good things have to come to an end, especially since we had Church the next day! Thus, at 3am, we all turned in, tucked ourselves into the beds and the sofas, and drifted into dreamland happy, contented, and thanking God for the great time we were able to spend together as a Youth and as friends.

We truly thank God for allowing us to make many new friends through this gathering and we earnestly pray that they were all blessed. We pray too that these friendships will indeed be sustained and last for a lifetime! Many thanks to Brother Jimmy and Pastor Rosalind for opening their apartment for us, and to Pastor Thomas for his guidance and support. Hopefully there will be many more to follow in the very near future:) Amen.

on the 9th of January 2010
we went to shuang Fu Handicap Centre
as our youth activity.

What a grat time we had there.. ^^
and we learn a few things over there.

The lady in the gray shirt is one of the importnat person there.
she told us a little bit about the history of Shuang Fu

Then the time was passed to us.
we sang a few songs there
and worshipped the Lord.

And Bro Jimmy also lead us in worship.
and got everyone to do the actions of one of the song. ^^

Next Ps. Thomas gave a testimony.

Then this Bro and Sis shared with us about themselves and how Shuang Fu helped them.

The main reason we went there was to help them clean the place up.
we divided ourselves into 2 teams.
some went upstairs to clean and move some things around
and the other group stayed downstairs to help rearrange and clean some things.

and some of the children from Children church came over and helpped us out.. ^^

Fun under the Singapore Sun

30th December 2009. One day before the eve of the New year. What better time to go for a youth outing to sunny Singapore? Even though we youth have been seeing each other almost EVERY SINGLE DAY since Christmas, we nonetheless decided to pack our bags, put on our sneakers, and ready our passports to pay our neighbours a little visit.

Our 'tour' started off with a visit to City Hall MRT whereby we adjourned to Marina Square Shopping Mall and then to Millenia walk to pay our 'old' youth - Amadea - a surprise visit. Thankfully, our surprise worked, and we made one girl very happy that day. It's interesting how hiding behind flower pots in the middle of a shopping mall could prove to have been so effective.

After lunch at Burger King, which was miles better than Malaysia's, we then went to the 'Big Durian', the Esplanade. You may laugh, but some of the guys really thought I was going to bring them on a durian eating feast.

After getting more pictures in front of the Singapore River, we then went to Singapore's icon, the Merlion, where we got stared at by the dozens of tourists there because of our, ahem, weird poses in front of the water-spouting statue.

A few more weird poses later, we then went to visit the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles in front of the renowned, and super old, Victoria Concert Hall. However, the bit most of us were looking forward to was still to come - our visit to Fullerton Hotel; well, the toilets at least. Cheap thrills, but fun nonetheless. We then began our 1km or so walk to Clark Quay MRT station, where we took the MRT to Vivo City - the largest shopping mall in Singapore.

By the time we got to Ben and Jerry's, we were all really tired. So after spending 20 minutes or so lazing on the balcony and looking over at Sentosa Island and the future Universal Studios, we dragged ourselves up and moved on to Singapore's busiest street - Orchard Road.

After having a taste of "Ah Mei Nai Cha" at Paragon, we then crossed the road to Takashimaya, where we had our dinner. When we were done, it was just in time to catch the famous Christmas lights that decorate Orchard Road every December. Thankfully, they didn't disappoint. That also marked the end of our Singapore trip, as we called an end to what had been a very tiring, but fun, day. So, with the brightness of the lights still lingering in our eyes, we made our long way back to Malaysia via the MRT, exhausted, but thoroughly satisfied.

Thank God for blessing us with journey mercies throughout the trip and holding back the rain when we were out in the open. We couldn't have had such an unforgettable trip without Him. Thanks too to our evergreeen Pastor Thomas and Aunty Lai Lai, who accompanied us and watched over us all the way. Looking forward to more youth outings to follow.
